I have a 99 ZX2, and someone told me on this website it's a ZTEC, and that all ZX2's are Ztec. It's a 2.0 that's all I know about it. It jumped time and I took it to a mechanic and he said the engine was a total loss, not a freewheeling engine. I was out over the road driving an 18 wheeler at the time and before I left I told the guy to go ahead and junk it, although I never gave him the title. Two months later the shop owner calls me (it was his son who was running the biz while he was semi retiring who told me it's junk), and says we can fix it, it just needs a timing belt. I had written the car off, forgot about it and after having it fixed, it's been running great for 18 months now. I guess the short of it is make damn sure it's non-interference motor cause I almost lost a nice car (I think the owners son wanted him a ZX2 for nothing), thank god I never gave him the title. |
