I've used oil, about a quart every 1800 miles, in my '97 5.4L since new. Took in while still under warranty and Svc. Dept. Manager showed me a Ford Service Bulletin that said it was acceptable for this engine to burn a quart in 900 miles. Did the salesman tell me I was going to have an "oil burner" when I purchased it? Hell No! You don't say what engine you have, but be sure to check with your Ford Service Department to see whether a similar Bulletin might also be out to cover the 2000 model. I really felt "taken" by Ford when I read that bulletin, knowing that I was going to have to put oil in the damn thing forever and not be able to do anything about it. I still have it and still put oil in it! Never another Ford V-8!! Good Luck!
