Default Need a Ford Mechanic GURU

I have a 2003 Escape 4x4 XLS..... Here is my problem. Local Car Guy doesn't know enought about escapes to diagnose this......

When the car is at 1-15mph, it makes a sort of grinding sound on the front passenger side, almost sounds like a wheel rubbing. That gets faster along with the wheels turning faster. The grinding is fairly loud at low speeds but nearly goes away once I am on the freeway (turns into a very low rotating squeel.) The guy at our local shop took off the brakes, inspected all the brake system, and found that the brake pad was cracked........

We replaced the front brake pads, and the sound is still there, and it almost seems louder. I was wondering if anyone has had this happen or have any ideas as to what it is???? I was thinking the 4x4 might be stuck on that wheel somehow, or the ABS system is broken??

Any ideas? Need help fast!!!
