Default 94, AWD, V-6, 4.0 Fuel Injector?

Have 94 AWD Aerostar. Engine light has been on for some time now. Suspected it was the fuel filter and replaced it. Have done all of the usual maintenance- spark plugs, air filter, etc.
Van will seem to drive smoothly, then begin to loose speed on a hill- pedal to the floor and it is not accelerating but slowing down significantly.
Now am thinking it could be fuel injector and that seems a MAJOR undertaking!
Any thoughts appreciated!
