At first I thought it was a good idea to have the cartridge filter as I thought it would be cheaper to replace than the spin on filter, but it doesn't turn out to be any cheaper, plus it seems that it would be a dirtier oil change to mess around with the cartridge and stuff. That is very odd that they would use two different oil filter types on the same setup. I don't know if you can remove the cartidge housing and switch to a spin on filter, you would think that the attachment base would be similar on the block to reduce production costs and the only difference is the housing. |
My '09 V6 Escape was purchased on 11/11/08 and has a spin on type filter.
