I have a 2009 escape with approx. 4,000 miles which I towed for the first time and within 200 miles the transmission started boiling out. I towed it as instructed in the manual at 60 miles per hour with only a few times going to 65 miles per hour. I purchased this vehicle because it could be towed with the automatic transmission. The transmission was replaced under warranty with a new transmission. I wonder if anybody else has had any experience towing the 2009 Escape. It is a 6 cylinder.
