Default window replacement 98 ford ranger

so, the drivers side window got busted out and I'm replacing it. I'm looking at how the glass is attatched... it looks like a rivet on one side, with kind of a flower of metal bent to hold it in place, then it looks like a screw on the other side. so whats the easiest way of taking this deal out? also, once I get it out, wouldnt it just be easier to use a nut, bolt and washers instead of the way it was done before?

thanks in advance for any help.
