mine has made the noise since it was new. Initially I though something needed to break in. It sounds almost like a rotational chirping/whining sound. It is very specific to 65mph. I am not 100% convinced it is a resonance vs. some kind of bearing noise, but we'll see if they can fix it with the TSB. It is very quiet at other speeds so it could be possible I suppose.
The new transmission program is really a nice update, I had a chance to do some driving around yesterday in various conditions. I notice a big change in the light-throttle operation, my truck now goes up through the gears quicker and with more firmness. I am hoping this will help with in-town fuel economy. Also, it is really noticeable when using hill control mode...used to really bang the downshifts, now they ease in nicely, like you would if you were driving a manual. They must have added some throttle control changes to the programming change as well, I feel a bit more throttle "lift" on certain shifts and it doen't have the very harsh 2-1-2 shift behavior at rolling stops. No doubt this helps to guard against the "shift flares"...ie getting on the gas too much before the shift/clutches have fully locked in.
Hoot noise is gone as far as I can tell so far. |
