Default Wrench Light, Vehicle Surges when put from R to D

The car is a 2007 Freestyle with 75,000 miles. It has been well maintained, recently it has started revving up bad when you turn the wheel or shift from drive to reverse or revers to drive. It is all you can do to hold it in a parking lot. Now the wrench light has come on. We had it checked prior to that light coming on and they found no faults. What could be the issue. Thanks in advance for any and all advice.
