Cool F 150 starting problem

Hi guys; i have a 2000 f150, stick 6. And some times it wont even make a sound when i turn the key. I have ben told that there is a safety switch under the clutch pedal, that after time starts to fail and prevents me from starting the truck. If i slam the clutch pedal hard to the floor it will start. What i want to know is, is that correct and what does it look like and how do i change it. Or is it some thing that just gets dirty or rusty and can be fixed with some wd40. Thanks mike
