I have an 02 Escape with 3.0 V6, I just finished replacing all 6 plugs I did the procedure as it was shown in the link. The Escape had 69K on it, looked like original plugs, they were worn to about 0.060 gap [ new spec 0.052] the wider the gap the more likely the coil insulation will leak thru and cause a flash over arc. If you do this plug replacement job, use anti-sieze on the plug threads, be meticulous on blowing out the plug well to remove dirt before unscrewing the plugs, inspect all coils for flash-arc marks [white and carbon marks on coil sides] replace any coils damaged or leaking, I replaced the boots and use tune up grease [die-electric silicone grease] on the secondary coil terminals, plug boots. My first time on one of these, doing it carefully took 6 hrs.
hope this helps.
