Lightbulb I Love This Truck! Please Help Me Fix It!!!

New Member, Love the site...

I have a 1999 Mazda B2500 that is giving me some trouble.

I went out today to the store and everything was great, when I returned to the truck it would not start.

I got in the truck and turned the ignition all the way to the run position and heard a single loud click. I thought, crap I must have left the lights on... Nope; the battery was not the problem, all lights were off and I know that the battery is good.

Thats when I tried the key again, and all positions work/semi work except the run postion which has the feeling of a void or just nothing going on with it. I also noticed that when I move the key through the different positions I get several rapid dings like somehting is shorted out or just fubar'd. When I was getting all of my stuff out and locking the truck up I noticed that I woud hear the 3-4 rapid bells (dings) even when there was no key in the ignition switch at all.

Long first post but I plan on keeping my truck for a very long time and know that I will be crawling the forums...

Thanks to all that can help, or know from their own experience what is going on.

P.S. from my own research it seems as the obvious first conclusion is that the ignition switch has bit the dust and requires a swap out. Any thoughts?
