Default Deactivation Switch

I have a 2002 Windstar.
Brake light stayed on and cruise control light would not come on.

Just paid $25 for the deactivation switch and $200 for the labor.

I looked on Google on Ford Windstar deactivation switch and pulled up lots of info on vehicles catching fire.

Was this switch supposed to be replaced for a recall because of a fire hazard?
