Default clutch problem

I have a 98 ford ranger 5 speed. im not sure what the problem is maybe someone knows where i can begin to troubleshoot. it feels like its missing a spring or somethig. when you press the clutch it just sinks to the floor with no resistance. but if u press it fully to the very bottom it still starts and i can shift through every gear. but the car wont move. if you put it into gear and let the clutch all the way up it wont stall either. ive never experienced anything like this. maybe someone knows what i should look at. could it be the transmission?
