Question Transmissions rumors

I just bought a 2004 Escape XLT with 50,500 miles on it. It's in good shape with no major damage reported by Carfax. I've been reading where a lot of people have transmission problems. I called my local dealer to see what they said. They told me they haven't really heard of that in the Escapes. I looked at reviews on Edmunds.com and only 1 of 214 people had a transmission problem.

Here's my issue... I paid for an extended warranty, but I'm trying to keep costs down. I'm just wondering if I should keep that warranty or not.

Does anyone know what the ratio of bad transmissions to good ones is?

Or could you answer the poll about your own transmission experience?

Thanks
