I have a 1996 automatic and am experiencing slipping of gears, started happening on the highway now in city driving also. I can usually drive for 20 minutes before it starts bucking. I turn off the overdrive and it works fine. I'm getting my range sensor fixed now but will be annoyed if it turns it was recalled and I never knew! |
I have a 96 contour too. I have the SAME sympoms - bucking, slipping, downshifting randomly....lately it has been happening more and more. I finally went and got a new sensor and changed it outside an autozone next to the dealer where I got the part. Took about 30 min (I could do it in 10 now that I know what i'm doing) to change. Car appears to shift fine now thank god.
