Default water leak

Had this problem with my 2000 wagon (one problem in a long line.....). It took out the blower resistor, thus disabling AC and all but high fan speed.

Problem is water coming in through the blower where the cabin air filter ought to be. Solved by removing plastic cowl piece, fixing cracked gutter on its underside (broken, I believe during assembly, or at the dealer during the continuous string of repair attempts for various other issues) then RTV'd the heck out of the cowl/windshield mating surface. 3 months dry so far, including July's torrential rains/flooding (Chicago area).
