Default 88 turbo coupe need help

hello eeveryone....I just bought an 88 turbo coupe automatic. She's been sitting for several years but i finally got her running. however, it's not building boost. I started going through all the vacuum lines looking for leaks and found the 2 port vacuum block underneath the intercooler(on the neck of the turbo housing) to be broken. the vacuum line port that goes to the switch on the firewall has completely rusted away. Ford doesnt seem to make this part and i cant replicate it at ACE hardware. My question is, what does the switch on the firewall do and can i bypass it altogether or can i plug the rusted port and redirect the vacuum line from another source. any help is greatly appreciated.
