I'd reccomend checking that the diaphram on the egr holds vaccum. Put vacuum on the egr's vaccum port, then watch to see if the valve closes. It should hold for a great amount of time, theoretically forever. If it moves closed within a couple of seconds the diaphram has a pinhole in it. When the engine reaches operating temperature and the EGR valve tries to open it won't, then the DPFE sensor will take note and turn on the MIL.
