Default TurnSignal Jacked Up

I have a 1999 Ford Ranger with 86,000 miles.
First off my signal when used may blink once or twice and then nothing, other times nothing at all. My hazards do work. I tried replacing the entire tree but did nothing to change. I do not know a lot about flashers and switches so if you know how to fix my problem please speak slowly and try not to use too many big words.
