Default 1986 F-150 complete rebuild ,from the ground up

Hi everyone:
I'm new here,my name's Dave and I have a 1986 F-150 with an inline 6 cylinder, 300 engine.
There's over 300 000 km on it.
I think I will just make a project of this and rebuild the entire thing instead of chasing a hundred small problems.
I'm thinking I'll start with the engine, maybe get it out of the truck tear it down, have the cylinder walls machined , replace the rings, valves, etc. I'll be doing a lot of looking around for where to get parts. hopefully I can get all high performance parts for this thing .
I live in a small rural town so I'll find a source of parts first. I plan to start in the new year as soon as I find a vehicle to drive.
Don't care if this takes me a year and I don't care about cost as long as in the end I have "brand new'' truck with losts of horespower.

I'll post here as I go , any advice or tips are gratefully accepted.

Just want a project,
Dave
