Hey fellas, thanks for your input...i put it to use and got'r fixed! what i did was disconnect both of the shift rods from the transmission shifting arms and put my transmission into nuetral by hand, and put bricks behind all 4 wheels about a foot back so that when I found neutral, it wouldn't crush my ass! lol
I found neutral, sure enough, it rolled back and stopped on the bricks thank god. Kind of a redneck manuever, but i had no help and i've cheated death before, either that or death wasn't paying attention. Then, i reconnected the shift rods and cotter pinned 'em in place. I drove around the block and got to shift in all gears in and out fine, but it's sloppy and needs adjustment for sure to keep it from binding again like it did. It's raining and it's dark out, so i'll fine tune the shift rods tomorrow and get it dialed in (for another three months) lol. Thanks for your help guys, hopefully this post will help someone else in the future as this is a common problem with the Falcons/Rancheros due to the hokey shifting rod setup coming loose, bending, or breaking.
