the engines are the same in that the transmission bolt patterns are the same and all other bolt holes are the in the same place.the differance is as you stated an intake swap and accessory and bracket swap exhaust,motor mounts and so forth.not sure about the starter.so just strip the engine of all accessories,and exhaust manifold and intake manifold and just start with a long block and add your stuff off your old engine.hope this helps ya
