Ford announced a while ago that it is not looking at diesels for cars. Their view was that advances in gas engine design for direct injection and stratified air charge (compression ignition using gas) would result in economies comparable to diesels without the problem of the diesel exhaust. Ford appears to be supporting the rumor that the new F150 for 2009 will come with a diesel.
