Default general ranger questions (1987)

I am looking at purchaseing a 1987 ford ranger 5-speed. It has 169,xxx miles I am going to take it into a mechanic to get it checked out, but what should I look for? It has a new paint job, new floor boards cause the old ones were rusted out, its asking $995, it looks realy good, no cd/radio, it has a nice cap but its generic white and dosent match.

How much would this normaly go for?
Whats the avrage mpg?
Stock HP?
How realiable?
Suitable for part time pizza dilivery?
Any normal problems?

Please answer any or all questions if you know, Thanks for your time.
