Does the front end have torsion bars?
Rangers tend to have torsion so you're probably in luck because torsion has easy ride hight adjuster bolts.
You might want to know if the drive shaft/U-joint are aftermarket, these need to be adjusted with hight.
And yeah, letting anything lack the amount of lubrication necessary for function is a bad idea.
