Try going to knechts. Once a code comes on, it is stored in the computer. Once it's stored they should be able to pull the code even with the check engine light off. I know from experience! I don't know if it works on every car that way, but it worked with one of mine. So go to another store and ask them to try anyways. If it works, then i would not delete the code, but at least write the code down and look up information on that here in the ford forums, etc. Also once this is done, I would go back to autozone(if the code reader read it without the check engine light being on) and bet the guy/girl who said they can't do it 20 dollars that it will read the code. lol
