Default Door sensor on 99 expy is tweeking out

Hi,

We have a 99 expediton, and ever since we bought it the door sensor has had a problem knowing when the passenger front door is open or closed. It does eventually notice and go off and then the doors lock but it takes a long time. Most times it will go off then come back on a few times then finally stay off and lock the doors. We have tried wd-40 and di-electric grease but neither worked. It seems to be getting worse. Could the sensor be bad or maybe something else. please help it is so annoying.
