Did some digging after posting that, and found numbers of 136 cu ft and 144 cu ft listed for the Windstar. I suppose the two numbers are with and without interior side panels.

Numbers I found on the E-150 are about 240 cu ft, a much larger difference than I expected.

However, the 2000 spec showed hiway mpg for the E-150 at 12. That's much lower than I expected. My younger son's daily driver and business hauler, a '97 E-350, gets about 10 in mostly around town driving. His '87 E-350 14' box van, with carbed 460 engine, gets 6 to 7 mpg, but isn't driven often.
