I'm in the market for new brakes, front and rear. On the fence on whether to cahnge them myself or not. What's a good price to look for if I take to a shop?

I did change them once before but had a knowlegeable person by my side. A bit reserved doing it this time on my own.

However, before starting I'd like to know what brand/type are recommended by the masses (not looking for pricey, top of the line - this is a second vehicle therefore mid-price is fine)? Any help?
