Default 2004 Escape bug shield question

Hi,

Just got a 2004 Escape that came with a factory-installed bug shield. All the bug shield screws are loose and this thing rattles around. I've tried to tighten them or to unscrew them but the thread part inside the hood seems to be broken off. I can cut the screws with a bolt cutter and get the shield off. Are there any kind of clips or so available that can be "popped" into the underside of the hood?

Thanks,

Ed
