Looks like I logged on to the this forum at the right time. I just bought a '00 XLS (w/o speed control)and have been researching buying and installing the Ford factory speed control kit.

The kit (as I understand it) contains the steering wheel controls, wiring harness, servo unit and mounting hardware. Since I'm planning on using the wiring harness that's already installed, I'm now wondering if the recalled switch will be a problem. I've checked and there are no outstanding factory recalls on my truck, but maybe it's not on the recall list because Ford didn't send it out the door with factory-installed speed control.

Now that I've written all of that, I now realize that my question is: does my non-cruise-equipped Explorer have the troubled switch on it somewhere?

Thanks,
Craig
