Question Dead 2002 Ford Expedition??

I own a 2002 Ford Expedition 4.6 V8. I was initially hearing a rattling sound from the front of the engine. I was informed that the timing chain needed to be replaced. Well, while driving the truck just shut down and lost power. It is now at a shop and it will crank, run for a minute, then cut out. Shop has replaced the injectors, fuel filter, spark plugs, and a coil pack (Havent even got to the timing chain yet!!!). What in the world could it be?? Please help this is getting way too expensive for hit and miss or trial and error. Thanks.
