Default 86 F250 Steering Wheel Question

I just failed a Virginia State Inspection on my old 86 F250. They say the steering colunm has too much play. The column is secure and the play is from the tilt mechanism. I was wondering how much play, if any, is normal for the tilt in this truck and year? As long as I have owned the vehicle it has had this play in it.

Thanks for any info.
