look for anything obstructing (blocking) the door from closing. This was probably already done as the normal person would do this before replacing latches. Next would be to check that the metal piece that attaches to the latch isn't damaged or bent (the old, faulty latch could have bent the metal bar from slamming a closed latch on top of the bar) Also make sure the actual latch is functioning properly. Take a screwdriver, and see if you can get the latch to go in and latch closed. If not, go inside the door and make sure that the actuater, and push-rods (there's like 3 or 4 of them) are connected properly and aligned correctly. Expecially note the pushrod that goes to the door handle, if may be too tight, adjust (calibrate/align) it to function properly.
