Post 94 Explorer Gas Fumes

Hi all:

It sticks in my mind that this is a known issue, but I can't seem to find it. I have a 94 Explorer XLT 4 x 4 (3.0, 6 cylinder). Long and short: I smell fumes and I think they come from the engine compartment: Usually when its very hot as opposed to warm.

Has anyone run across this issues? Where do you think this is coming from? What is the fix?

Many thanks,
