Default contour transmission ???

I have a 1998 ford contour that I recently purchased off of a neighbor of mine. He had just recently had the car in the shop for a tune up. He got the normal tune-up, and a new radiator, and also a new ac compressor. Just after all of this was done the car lost all of the forward gears. Iwas just wondering if there is a sensor or something that would cause it to do this but not affect the reverse gear at all. Thanks
