In addition to the things that have been suggested, check your chasis ground. I know it sounds crazy, but a bad ground can give you all kinds of strange manifestations. Pull the ground off the chasis, make sure it is clean to both sides, reinstall it, and then give it a coating of spray on grease and see if it makes a difference.
