Gas tank vent problem 85 Mustang I'm seeing gasoline running out of the vent tubes of my carb and the gas is collecting in the oil pan. Not the first time this has happened, the other time I came outdoors on a winter day to find the snow melted under and around my black car. Gasoline was dripping from the oil pan/blcok seal.
Jacked the front of the car into the air and even with the front of the car higher then the gas tank gas was pouring out of the disconnected fuel line (at the fuel pump.)
This suggests to me that the vent for the gas tank is plugged, but where is the open end of the vent?
SIZE="5"]I believe the problem started about ten years ago when I hit some debris in a construction siite. Had to replace the fuel pump as the housing was damaged. The above incident happened a few weeks later. Since then I have noticed a strong secent of gas inside the car but this current problem just started whe the daytime temps hit 90 degrees a few days ago.[/size]
Needless to say running the engine with gasoline in the oil leads to a seized engine and this car is my only transportation. |
