Default slipping with an E4OD rebuild. Help. ideas.

I rebuilt an E4OD tranny out of an F250 that I could only get home in reverse. I bought it off a guy who got it stuck, and radically shifted it from "first" to "reverse" 'til he got it out of a hole.

Well, it will now only starts off in manual "2nd," and when shifting from 2nd to "drive" it goes through all of the gears perfectly. It gears down nicely for passing, and the over drive works fine. If I try to start in "drive" it barely moves. If I put it in first it takes off fine, but does a "slide-bump" when I shift into drive from first, then goes through the gears nicely. When it is warmed up thoroughly, I sense a slight slipping when starting in manual "1st." Could it be a bad solenoid? Isn't starting in "drive," or starting in "1st" the same thing?

Thanx for any knowledge or advice on this. I'm new to this thread; I'll check evetything out here. email: info@nutsnboltz.net
