I am guessing that you have an old duraspark ignition in an '86.
WIth them there is a pick coil inside the distributor that can go bad.
When you say that you have no fire, do you mean that you checked for spark and you have no spark?
Did you check for spark at the coil and at a plug?
Look for 12 volts at the bat side of the coil.
Make sure the other little wire is well connected, and has continuity to the ignition module.
I *think* there is a grounding wire inside the distributor. If so, make sure it is clean and tight.
There is a method in the haynes manual of how to test the various circuits with a test light, and or a voltmeter. |
