I recently bought a 1998 Ford Contour SVT with a blown motor and am having trouble finding a replacement motor.

The only motor I found is from a Ford Contour with a 2.5 v6 duratec, but its from a sport.

I have read that these have 170 hp compared to the SVT's 195hp. Are they any other differences?

The 8th digit on the VIN is an L instead of a G like on my car.

What can you tell me about the 3liter swaps?
any write ups on that swap?
FYI. 3L from a Taurus are a common swap, more power, can be found with low miles for not a lot of money, usually cheaper than finding a low mileage 2.5 SVT engine.

Good resource for the 3L swap can be found here http://contour.org/ceg-vb/index.php just search for more information

Unfortunently I've never done the 3l swap, so I'm defienently not an expert on that.

***EDIT*** Just noticed your a member over at CEG also.
