Good- FM attachment for your iPod. $50-$150
Better- new headunit with Aux. Jacks $90+
Best- headunit with iPod dock connector plug. $90+ (sometimes and ipod kit is required for about $20)
1) Fm modulators don't have much quality (relatively speaking), and are often filled with some static noise.
2) Aux. Jacks are better for quality (best in some cases) because they have a stable, static free hookup to the device.
3) if you have an iPod, the docking cable hookup (to an iPod compatible headunit) is optimal for quality. The docking connector on an iPod is a Pre-amp out, which bypasses the rather crappy headphone amp the iPod uses. In this situation, some head units show song titles on screen, and even let you control the iPod and navigate through the menus.
I have done all three methods before. I advise against the first one. Choosing the other two is a matter of money or even desired quality. Either method will satisfy most people. The quality difference (between 2 and 3 is only marginally noticable.
