I was always curios about this swap, as the i think the 4.2 is the big brother to the 3.8 and uses the same bellhousing. If this was the case then it would also use the 5.0 and other small block for bellhousing. Also the 5 speed stick shift transmission are very similar to "older" ford transmissions (looked alot like my 95's, the shifter was in a slightly different spot and the reverse switch was slightly different)

Motor mounts and brackets will probably have to be fabricated or used from another vehicle. if you have an automatic, i'd swap in a c6 or an AOD, wiring will be an issue unless you run a carb. all in all i'd rather put the motor in a 96 and earlier half ton ford.
