Default ABS Problem

I am having the same problem with my 98 windstar. Is this safe to do? We just posted the van on Craigslist to sell it and I would like to not have people hesitate buying it because there appears to be a brake problem. I would rather be able to tell them that we disconnected the ABS and it is fine. How easy is it to do this? I am not really a mechanic, we have a friend who is. Should we have him do it or can we do this ourselves?
