Default Billdad

I am back after lagging behind because I got rid of the Windstar I had. Now I need help with a '99 Escort with AT. It won't start. It is getting fuel, but is not getting fire. A friend suggested swapping the ECU. Can this be tested out of the car? It has been removed. Anybody have any other suggestions? What about the crankshaft position sensor? I would appreciate any help!!!
