Red face 97 grinds gears -please help

please help!
i recently got a 97 ford probe with 128,000 miles. in great shape...one major problem: it doesn't want to go into gear. the clutch has to be floored. cranks easily, and it goes in reverse easily. i have to turn off the car to get it into first gear, or alternatively "grind" it into 1st gear. at first, it's difficult going into gears...

HOWEVER once it gets going, it shifts very easily "like butter".

i have no money, and want to fix this myself...hopefully with the help of some kind people.
i'm very good at step by step instructions...or if there is a manual i can purchase? or if someone can point me in the correct direction?

thank you in advance.

edit after more research: so far i know this...correct me if i'm wrong. its hydrolic (sic) the clutch has it's own master and slave cylinders. the first thing i should do is bleed the master and slave cylinders if this is a case of air being in the line. so i'm going tomorrow to auto zone, and find out where i can find a repair and maintenance manual for a 97 ford probe. then i'm going to "pump" the clutch inside the car. have my wife hold down the clutch. then i'm going to find the bleed valve for the master cylinder and "bleed" it. replace the valve back, then let her take her foot off the clutch so no air goes back in. then i guess do the same for the slave cylinder?

once again....any help would be appreciated.
