Default CV joint removal ...

Hi and thanks for being here to help. My car is a 1993 Probe, 4 cyl, 5 spd manual. I just purchased the car from the previous owner who tried to repair the driver side axle and could not remove the spline part that is in the transmission so before I try and screw something up I thought I would ask for your advice on removing it. I understand the spline has a compression spring that must be compress smaller to come out of though trans, but the other guy said he couldn't remove it. He also removed the passenger side axle thinking he could go through that side with a rod and knock it out that way. Is there any tricks on getting this out? Also is there anyone selling reproduction interior dash pads, door panels, glove box door (hinges), etc. as there must have been a heck of a fight inside this car some time ago.

Thanks ... Matt
