The calipers may not be retracting fully due to air in the line, bad old water contaminated fluid or damaged calipers.

Brake fluid should also be changed every 4 years. Brake fluid attracts water even in a sealed system and this causes the brake system to fail prematurely.

Did your mechanic use "Disc Brake Quiet" on the pads?

Disc Brake Quiet is a liquid that coats the metal on the back of the pads and dries like rubber and absorbs vibrations that cause squeaks.
