Default (Road Noise) When driving

I have a 2000 Ford Taurus and just last week when getting at about 35-40 miles an hour I hear a ROAD NOISE coming from the front, sounds like hearing the wheels running on the road real hard. Someone said it might be the outside transmission bearing. Any ideas of what it may be? Sounds like at times it loud other times not as loud but still there.

Is it a hard fix?
